Iceland, November 2012This image shows a rare view of the striking Stapafell at Arnarstapi, shown by the slope of which goes up to the Snæfellsjökull. Unfortunately bad weather and snowdrifts made a complete trip up to the summit impossible, but offered at about halfway a fantastic view. A river (vatnsfall) of melt water had flushed a deep channel into the surrounding rock and shot in the gutter towards the valley. On that day the very low cloud ceiling had been raised to the peak of Stapafell and made the view to the sea and Arnastapi at the coast possible. This awesome sight completely compensated us for the unreachable summit.
